How we collect information about you
We collect personal and financial information which we obtain from you when you provide us with data over the telephone, when you send us documents, when you complete and send us a form via our website or from any third parties (including your Broker) when you apply for a loan, you provide to us during the course of your loan or which you give us from time to time.
How we handle your information
We will only use the information you provide to us as described in this Privacy Notice.
We will observe the rights granted to you under applicable privacy and data protection laws and will ensure that queries relating to privacy issues are promptly and transparently dealt with. We will only collect your information where we have lawful grounds and legitimate business reasons to do so. We will be transparent in our dealings with you and will tell you about how we will collect your information.
We will update our records if you inform us that your details have changed. We will continue to review and assess the quality of our information.
How we will use the information we collect about you.
We will store and process your information on our computers and in our paper folders. By "your information" we mean personal and financial information we:
- a) Obtain from you or from third parties, such as credit reference agencies (who may search the Electoral Register), fraud prevention agencies or other organisations when you apply for any loan or any other product or service for which you or they give to us at any other time,
- b} Learn throughout the course of the loan.
- c) Information you provide via the enquiry form on or website
We and other companies forming part of Jerrold Holdings Limited which includes Auction will use your information to manage your loan, give you statements and provide our services, for assessment and analysis (including credit and/or behaviour scoring, market and product analysis), and to develop and improve our services to you and other customers and protect our interests.
When you apply to us for a loan we will make a search of your credit file with credit reference agencies. We will use the information obtained in the credit reference searches to help us decide whether or not to offer you credit. We may also use the information to satisfy us that the application has been made by you and that the information provided on the application form is true.
Regardless of the outcome of the application, every time a search is made on your credit file, the details of the credit search are recorded on your credit file. This information will subsequently be disclosed to any other organisations that perform a credit check on you and may be used and searched by us and them to:
- a) consider applications for credit and credit related services, such as insurance, for you and any associated persons;
- b) trace debtors, recover debts, prevent or detect money laundering and fraud, to manage your account/s.
We will give details of any agreement with us, your account, how you manage it, the payments you make under it and any default or failure to keep to its terms to credit reference agencies. If you borrow from us and do not repay in full or change address and fail to tell us about it, and payments are not made on time we may inform credit reference agencies.

You have a legal right to these details and a copy of the information held. Please note a fee may be payable.
We may use a credit scoring or automated decision making system.
Your credit file may already be linked to records relating to other people with whom you have a financial association. Before entering into any agreement with you we may search your records and credit reference agencies which may be linked to records relating to your spouse/partner or other persons with whom you are financially linked and other members of your household. For the purpose of your loan application you may be treated as financially linked and will be assessed with reference to 'associated' records.
If you are a joint applicant or you tell us that you are linked financially with another person, you are declaring that you are entitled to: a) disclose information about that person and anyone else referred to by you; and b) authorise us to search, link or record information at credit reference agencies about you and anyone else referred to by you. Before any search or loan application is completed or any agreement is entered into involving joint parties you must both consent to us recording your details with credit reference agencies.
Your financial associates will continue to show on your credit file until either you or one of your financial associates successfully files for a dissociation with the credit reference agencies. We will also link joint applicants in our own records. We will continue linking this information until the account closes or is changed into a sole account and one of you notifies us that you are not longer linked.
Fraud Prevention and Detection
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU PROVIDE US WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION.
Auction Finance Limited may make searches of records held at fraud prevention agencies. If you give us false or inaccurate information and we confirm fraud, we will record this and will pass this information to fraud prevention agencies and other organisations to prevent fraud and money laundering. Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information.
We and other organisations may also access and use information to prevent fraud and money laundering when;
- a) Checking details on applications for credit and credit related or other facilities;
- b) Managing credit and credit related accounts or facilities;
- c) Recovering debt;
- d) Checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance;
- e) Checking details of job applicants and employees.

We and other organisations may access and use from other countries the information recorded by fraud prevention agencies.
We may make periodic searches of Auction records, credit reference and fraud prevention agencies to manage your account with us and to take decisions regarding credit, including whether to extend credit. These searches will not be seen or used by lenders outside Jerrold Holdings Limited group companies.
Sharing or disclosing your information with third parties
The information which we, other organisations and fraud prevention agencies provide to the credit reference and fraud prevention agencies about you and your financial associates may be supplied by the credit reference and fraud prevention agencies to other organisations and used by us and them for example to: prevent fraud and money laundering, verify your identity, trace your whereabouts and recover debts that you owe, checking details on applications for credit and managing credit and credit related accounts.
In addition we may disclose your personal details to:
- • Our insurers, auditors, solicitors, professional advisors, sub-contractors or any person providing services to Jerrold Holdings Limited group companies or who are involved in the loan application, who have agreed to treat your personal details as confidential.
- • Any proposed or actual transferee of the mortgage.
- • Any funders of Jerrold Holdings Limited group companies or any proposed or actual third party involved in any matter relating to the administration of your loan with Auction who has agreed to keep the details confidential.
- • Any body having a legal right to your personal information, including the police and any other legal and regulatory authorities and government bodies.
- • Any person where such disclosure is necessary to enable us to ensure that your obligations under any agreement or mortgage with us is being complied with and to ensure that any security given in connection with any loan is not at risk.
- • Any other third party with your consent.
We may record, use, exchange, analyse and assess information held about you and your relationship with us. We may occasionally use this information to give you information by letter, telephone, recorded message or other form of electronic communication about other financial services offered to you by Jerrold Holdings Limited group companies.
From time to time we, and companies forming part of Jerrold Holdings Limited would like to send you information about our other goods and services (including those of other carefully selected companies) which may be of interest to you.
